At our school we have worked hard to communicate to families the importance of being an active participant in their children’s education. We believe that the more actively engaged families are with their child’s education the more success they will achieve at school. Our ‘3 for Me’ program aims to take away any misconceptions and negativity about school by opening up our classrooms and inviting families to come in and see firsthand what we are doing at school every day. Our hope is to upskill our community in ways that they can support their children’s learning at home by being transparent about what and how we are teaching their children. Families get to see their children thriving in the school space and have the opportunity to learn alongside them. In our ‘3 for Me’ sessions families get to work together on tasks where often the children end up being the teachers, which they love. We have been running this program for a number of years but have often struggled to get high percentages of families engaging. Last year we introduced an incentive for families to participate in these sessions. If they were able to come to 3 or more sessions throughout the year, they would receive an ‘At Home Pack’. This incentive proved to be highly successful, so we intend to provide the same ‘Take Home Packs’ as rewards again this year. This is what we intend to use the Hasbro Games Rebounce for. This game is a fabulous educational toy that helps to build fine and gross motor skills as well as promote decision making, improve attention, cooperation and turn taking skills. It is a fun and active game that encourages positive family communication and interaction. The perfect toy to include in our ‘At Home Reward Packs’.
