Our school community has many families who are doing it tough, especially with the ever increasing cost of living. It is often a struggle for families to provide for their children with some of the basic and essential items needed. We frequently see children who are in need of some additional help with their hygiene and self care routines. To help with this we decided to gift EVERY student with their very own ‘self care pack’. Classroom teachers spent time educating students the importance of hygiene and self care and talked about how items in the pack can be used. The hope is that all students now have the skills to do this themselves even if they are lacking this support in the home. We feel this will be especially helpful for some of our older students who are going through puberty and are already body conscious. It will give them the autonomy and resources to take care of themselves if needed.
