Smiles for Miles – Thank you Vimwood

"When one person struggles, the community struggles". This is often quoted in our workplace. We don't have a singular quote from the children but their excitement and smiles were worth so much more. 1 young lady walked out with a couple of accessories and a back pack. She told us she was going to share with her friends. Our CEO called her back and insisted she fill a bag for her and her friends and told her never to lose her compassion.

Tell us how and to whom you distributed the goods in your community

The majority of our Services cater to Aboriginal families from Antenatal care to Elder support and pretty much everything in between. We distributed the products throughout our centre for our patients, clients and childcare children. We made ‘lucky dip’ boxes for boys and girls to receive a gift after receiving their immunisations. We treated our playgroup children to some backpack and accessories. We have a small network of volunteers who combined the products to add into Christmas hampers for struggling families, DV victims, homeless community, Ronald McDonald House in Orange. Sadly, we still have a lot of Aboriginal children in Out of Home Care. We identified a few of our families and invited them in to go through the goods. I think we were more excited than the children. These donations were very popular and we were able to distribute them quickly.

Tell us how these goods helped your community, program or organisation

Thank you so much Vimwood for your generous donations. We received your donations of Womens & Girls accessories and backpacks. This items served their purpose well. It was about putting smiles on faces. We had smiles for miles. These items will also go into food hampers for Xmas. They will be distributed to the homeless, struggling families, domestic violence victims and children in hospital. Sadly, we still have a lot of Aboriginal children in Out of Home Care. We identified a few of our families and invited them in to go through the goods. I think we were more excited than the children. These donations were very popular and we were able to distribute them quickly. Thank you again Vimwood!
