Nike and Good360 Help Transplant Footballers Take the Next Step

Tell us how and to whom you distributed the goods in your community

The Nike football boots and shin pads were distributed to transplant recipients participating in the Transplant Australia Football Club (TAFC). TAFC brings together players of different ages, backgrounds and football experience who have received life-saving organ, tissue or bone marrow transplants. The donated equipment was matched to players according to their sizes and needs and distributed during a training camp at Valentine Park in Sydney. Some of the players had travelled from SA, QLD, WA and Victoria. For many players, returning to sport has been an important milestone in their recovery. Providing quality equipment helps remove some of the financial barriers to participation, particularly as players. already face the costs of training, travel and competition, in addition to their significant health journey which has a considerable financial impact on many transplant families.

The donated equipment helped ensure our players could train and compete safely and confidently. It also allowed Transplant Australia to direct more of its limited resources towards creating opportunities for participation, connection and wellbeing across the transplant community.

Transplant Australia supports people at every stage of the transplant journey through sport, peer connection, information and advocacy. TAFC is one way we help transplant recipients return to active life, build friendships and demonstrate what can be possible after transplantation.

Each time the team takes to the field, players also honour the donors and donor families who made their second chance possible and help raise awareness of the life-changing importance of organ and tissue donation.

We sincerely thank Good360 and Nike for recognising the value of inclusive community sport. Their generosity provided practical assistance to our players while also sending a powerful message: people living with a transplant deserve opportunities not simply to recover, but to reconnect, participate and thrive.

At the heart of TAFC is gratitude. Our players know they are only able to take to the field because of the extraordinary generosity of organ and tissue donors, living donors and donor families.

Through football, they honour that gift by living life fully and showing the wider community what transplantation makes possible. Their participation also creates opportunities to start conversations about organ and tissue donation and encourage more Australians to register as donors and, importantly, discuss their decision with their families.

The support from Good360 and Nike has become part of that story – helping our players proudly represent the transplant community and amplify a message of gratitude, hope and the life-changing impact of donation.
