LEGO provides comfort to grieving kids

When your mum is sick and having treatments, you hope will save her life, then you don't care how many hours you have to sit in hospital waiting rooms or on a chair next to her bed, you just want her to get better. Raf is one such young fellow. Raf's mum was having treatment that he hoped would save her life, and unfortunately, they did not. Raf has spent countless hours by his mums side this past year, in medical centres, hospitals, and at home, Raf sits beside his mum wanting to spend every minute he can with her.

Good360's support of Lionheart allows us to provide Lego to kids like Raf who are separated from their friends, missing school, experiencing grief and feeling alone. This Lego offers a distraction, an activity to pass the time and something to talk with his mum about when she is able.

Thank you Good360 and Lego for bringing some light to the darkest moments for Raf and children like him.

Tell us how and to whom you distributed the goods in your community

We dispersed these for grieving children.

These were children caring for a dying parent or sibling or who were grieving following the death of a parent or sibling.

Acute grief shows up in your body like an acquired brain injury. This means that for up to 24 months after the event your brain has trouble taking in and retaining new information, accessing known knowledge, sitting still and concentrating. This type of grief results in poor school attendance and performance, withdrawing from friends and social settings, chronic feelings of fatigue and exhaustion and overall poor wellbeing.

Providing Lego to children who are sitting by hospital bedsides, who are unable to sleep at night, who are isolated from friends and who feel they are failing at school offers purpose, feelings of achievement and success, distraction and connection.

Thank you so much for your support of Lionheart and WA’s grieving children.
We are so grateful that Good360 has a free shipping option for our larger pallet orders through their partner Northline. It makes such a difference and gives us the freedom to purchase more to help the community and have a greater impact. Being in Western Australia, shipping costs can get very expensive so any savings can be invested back into our programs
