The use of Lego kits that are tailored to a variety of interests has promoted the development of communication across a range of domains such as learning to interact with less familiar staff when going to the office to request to borrow the kit to choice making of which kit to borrow each time. The kits promote the development of fine motor skills but also allow the explicit teaching of numeracy skills such as numbers, shapes and colours in a play based approach. Students are developing their communication skills using both verbal and their communication device (if non-verbal) to the use of Key Word sign and for some students helping to promote the development of single words through speech. The Lego kits have also allowed for a variety of language to be modelled to the students and for students to expand their play skills and commenting ability. The Lego kits provided by Good 360 has allowed students to engage in the curriculum in an interest based approach and has fostered the development of problem-solving skills, being able to follow instructions, staying engaged in a task and learning to request help thus improving their self- regulation skills and capacity. The kits have provided our students with a sense of achievement and an increase in independence to learn and engage in activities independently. In our classroom, we have one student who because of these kits is learning to share with his peers. He actively builds them and has enjoyed sharing and engaging in play-based activities with his peers, demonstrating how to use them. He is so motivated by the kits, that we have been able to build on this enthusiasm to start to engage him in other types and modes of learning thus improving his access to all learning and the curriculum and improving his quality of his_x000D_ education. Thank you Good360 & Lego for supporting the education of our students through the Lego Kits.
