Creating Connections Through LEGO

“Since receiving the LEGO sets, we’ve seen such a positive shift in our children. They’re more engaged, working together, and taking pride in what they create. It’s become more than just play—it’s a time where they feel confident, connected, and excited to learn each day.” Emma, Educator

We shared the LEGO sets across our After School Care service in Bourke so that all of the children could enjoy them together. Instead of giving them out individually, we set them up as part of our daily afternoon activities, making sure everyone had the chance to sit down, build, and be part of it. The main group using them are our primary school-aged children who attend the service. Living in a remote community, access to resources like this isn’t always easy, so the excitement when the LEGO arrived was pretty special. It didn’t take long for it to become a favourite part of the afternoon—kids head straight over and get building as soon as they can.

What’s been really nice to see is how naturally the children have shared and worked together. They’ll sit in small groups, swapping pieces, helping each other out, and coming up with ideas together. One afternoon, a group of children worked together to build a whole “Sonic” each adding their own piece to it—it was a great example of teamwork and creativity.

We’ve also noticed that for some children, LEGO has become a bit of a calm space after school. If they’ve had a big day, they’ll gravitate towards the table and just quietly build and reset. It’s given them a safe, relaxed way to unwind.

Overall, the LEGO hasn’t just been a toy—it’s become something that brings the children together. Everyone gets a turn, everyone feels included, and it’s created a really positive, welcoming space in our service.

The LEGO sets from Good360 have made a really positive difference to our service and the children in our care. We’ve used them as part of our everyday afternoon program, giving the children a fun, creative space where they can build, connect, and unwind after school.

One of the biggest impacts has been how much it’s brought the children together. The LEGO table has become a natural meeting point where kids sit side by side, share ideas, and help each other. It’s been especially helpful for building friendships and supporting children who might otherwise be a bit quieter or unsure in group settings.

We’ve also seen a lot of learning happen through play. The children are working through challenges, staying focused on their builds, and feeling proud of what they create. It’s been great for building confidence—many of them love showing off their creations to educators and friends, which has really helped them come out of their shells.

For some children, it’s also become a calm, safe way to reset after a busy school day. They’ll sit down, start building, and you can see them relax and settle. That has had a big impact on the overall feel of our afternoons, helping create a more positive and settled environment for everyone. As a service in a remote community, having access to high-quality resources like this isn’t always easy, so these LEGO sets have been incredibly valuable. They’ve supported not just play, but wellbeing, learning, and connection across our whole group.

We’re so grateful to Good360 for their support—these sets have truly made a lasting difference in our program and to the children in our Bourke community.
We’d just like to share how much this support has meant to us as a small service in a remote community. Resources like this aren’t always easy to come by in Bourke, so receiving something like the LEGO sets really does go a long way.

It’s not just about having something new to play with—it’s about the opportunities it creates for our children. We’ve seen them connect, grow in confidence, and genuinely enjoy their time in care in a way that feels meaningful and inclusive.

It’s also made a difference for our team. Having engaging, high-quality resources helps us create a more positive, calm, and connected environment for the children each afternoon. We truly appreciate the support from Good360. It’s made a real impact on our program and, most importantly, on the children in our community.
