As a worker in the homeless field with past life experience of being homeless as a teenager, I know how much it means to oneself to be able to clean your teeth when not privileged to showering facilities. It makes you feel at least half human.

One Step at a Time: Restoring Dignity Through the Gift of Shoes
“When I was homeless, having a decent pair of shoes meant everything. It wasn’t just about comfort — it gave me a sense of dignity and made walking to appointments or job interviews possible. It made me feel human again.” — Marcus*, shoe recipient
Wet Ones distributed to households who are financially disadvantaged
These Wet Ones are so helpful for cleaning around the house – the wet weather in Kyogle since Cyclone Alfred has meant that mold seems to grown on many surfaces in the home and the car. These Wet Ones are perfect for cleaning and disinfecting hard surfaces. This reduces all the mould-related illnesses that are affecting us.
Christmas 2024
Oh my goodness ‘Doin for Aussie Rural Kids’, you sure have some excited kids here in West Wyalong! You guys are amazing, we are blown away by your generosity. You have put some big smiles on these kids faces, as they have had a pretty crappy time lately with me being in hospital since August. After 128 days in Sydney, (most of those in St Vincent’s hospital), we got the go ahead on Saturday from the doctors to go home to West Wyalong for Christmas. Lots of stars needed to align for it to happen, and thankfully they did. Back to hospital for me next week, but that’s ok, being with the family today is special. The presents are just wonderful, you have nailed each kid perfectly. Thank you all so much, I can only imagine how much time and effort went into all that shopping and wrapping, but we appreciate every little bit. People like you guys and the kindness shown, really make a difference to families like us. In what has been a difficult year, support like this helps us all to smile and carry on, plus you have saved me so much time and worry with trying to do the Christmas shopping from my hospital bed. As well as all this, you have shown these little kids that there are kind people out there who will support others when times are tough. I am sure they will remember this forever and hopefully be kind to others throughout their lives. You guys really do spread so much love and positivity, the world needs more people like you all. We always say what goes around, comes around, I really think you all deserve a whole lot of love and happiness coming your way. Thank you again for your support and generosity, you sure have added an extra bit of sparkle to us all this Christmas, and put some huge smiles on these kids’ faces. All the best to you and your family for a beautiful Christmas and a special 2024. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to help your organisation in the future. What a wonderful idea. Lots of love from Sheridan.
