Basic care packs providing a fresh start

Tell us how and to whom you distributed the goods in your community

With the generous donation of toiletries and winter essentials, our team carefully assembled Basic Care Packs (BCPs) designed to provide immediate comfort and support.

Each BCP has been thoughtfully curated with practical items such as mini conditioners, body wash and warm accessories, including beanies and gloves, alongside essential clothing items like tracksuits, t-shirts, socks and shoes. Meaningful items for those facing crisis situations.

These BCPs have been delivered to The Orange Door in Wonthaggi where they will be distributed to women accessing emergency support due to domestic and family violence. Many of the recipients will be navigating incredibly complex circumstances, some arriving with very few personal belongings, others supporting young children or managing additional challenges such as financial hardship or isolation.

These packs were created as part of Dress for Success Victoria’s broader mission to help women rebuild confidence, restore dignity and take steps toward safety, independence, and employment. Thanks to the generosity of our partners, including donations from Vimwood and Mayo Hardware, these packs do more than provide clothing and toiletries, they create a foundation of care that supports Dress for Success Victoria’s work in helping women stabilise, rebuild confidence and begin their journey toward independence.

For many women, receiving a BCP will mean more than just the items inside. It will offer a moment of dignity and reassurance and a reminder that they are seen, supported and not alone. As one team member reflected, even something as simple as a fresh set of toiletries or a pair of socks can provide comfort and normalcy during an otherwise overwhelming time.

We are deeply grateful to our donation partners for helping make this possible and for standing alongside us in supporting women to move forward with strength and confidence.
