In many regional communities along the New South Wales coast, Aboriginal families are still recovering from the devastating impacts of floods and bushfires. These events often destroy essential household items, and one of the most urgently needed, yet hardest to replace, is a mattress. For many families already facing financial hardship, purchasing a new mattress simply isn’t possible.

A mattress may seem like a simple item, but it plays a vital role in the health and well-being of a household. Quality sleep supports physical health, mental wellbeing, and overall resilience. For children, elders, and families, having a safe and comfortable place to sleep can make a profound difference to daily life.<br.
Just before Christmas 2026, thanks to the generosity of Good360 and their supporter IKEA, our foundation was able to distribute 9 mattresses to Aboriginal communities in regional New South Wales. Transporting and delivering these bulky items across regional areas is never easy, but the impact on the families who receive them makes every challenge worthwhile.

For many households, receiving a new mattress means more than just replacing something lost, it restores dignity and comfort in the home. It provides families with a place to rest, recover, and rebuild.
