David is a current member of Stepping Stone Clubhouse a community for people with mental illness, providing psychosocial rehabilitation and proven to reduce the occurrence of hospitalisation by 50%. He is a long-term members and the heartbeat of our community—charismatic, kind, wise, and endlessly giving. He works across every unit, connects deeply with members and staff, and advocates for mental health with grace and grit. David lives with chronic nerve pain caused by a bulge in his C6 & C7, making stability and support essential and mental ill-health. He received a pair of #Nike Air Jordan Zion 3s, and the impact was immediately apparently. Clearly emotional, David managed between wiping his eyes – “I’ve only had one pair of sneakers—held together by five layers of super glue. These new shoes gave me more than comfort. They gave me self-esteem. “I stared at them for two weeks like they were in a shrine. When I finally wore them into the city, I treated myself to a haircut and beard trim. I felt confident. I felt proud. I haven’t felt that in many moons. “I’m deeply grateful. As a disabled person, this gift made me feel proud – physically and mentally.”
