All of the Lego we receive through Good360 forms part of care packs that we put together for children aged 13 and under whose parents have entered end-of-life care for a terminal illness. This can be a frightening and lonely time in children’s lives . The older kids understand that they are about to lose a parent and the younger ones can sense the stress and changes happening in their families.
We put the Lego in the care packs to give children something familiar and joyful to focus on during long visits at the hospital when their sick parent may be sleeping or unable to interact with them.
We’ve had feedback that younger children enjoy showing their parents what they have made and also invite sick parents to add some of the bricks. These interactions seem small but are often captured on camera and will form parts of the memories children can hold onto after their parent has died.
