Bringing Comfort and Dignity: Practical Support for Families in Crisis

"These hampers gave me more than just essentials—they gave me a sense of relief. After leaving a difficult situation, I had nothing. Receiving these items made me feel like someone out there cares, and that I’m not alone in rebuilding my life." — Sara*, community recipient.

The donated goods from Good360, including plant-based cling wrap, Glad to be Green cling wrap, Chux multi-purpose cloths, plant-based wave top tidy bags, and assorted men’s and women’s shirts, were thoughtfully included in essential hampers for victim-survivors of family and domestic violence, as well as families struggling with financial hardship in South East Sydney. These hampers were distributed through our People’s Pantry food relief program and our casework support services, ensuring that those in crisis received practical and sustainable household essentials to help them rebuild their lives.

For many of our recipients, these hampers provided not just everyday necessities, but also a sense of dignity and relief during a time of immense stress. One mother who had recently fled an unsafe situation shared that receiving the hamper gave her “one less thing to worry about” as she worked to establish a safe and stable home for her children. The clothing donations also provided much-needed support to individuals facing housing insecurity, allowing them to access fresh, quality attire when finances were stretched too thin for such purchases.

By incorporating eco-friendly household items into our hampers, we also helped families make sustainable choices without the additional financial burden. Many recipients expressed their gratitude for being able to use environmentally conscious products, something they wouldn’t have been able to prioritise otherwise.

These donations have brought tangible relief and hope to so many in our community, reinforcing the power of generosity and connection during life’s most challenging moments.

The generous donations from Good360 and Clorox have made a significant impact on the families and individuals we support through SECC’s People’s Pantry and casework services. By providing essential household items such as plant-based cling wrap, Chux multi-purpose cloths, Glad to be Green wrap, eco-friendly tidy bags, and much-needed clothing, we were able to alleviate financial stress for those in crisis while promoting sustainability.

For victim-survivors of domestic and family violence, these donations helped make the transition to a safer home easier, ensuring they had basic necessities to set up a clean, organised, and functional household. Many of these individuals flee with only the clothes on their backs, so receiving new shirts meant they could regain a sense of dignity and normalcy in their daily lives.

For families facing financial hardship, these donations meant they could redirect their limited funds toward food, rent, and other pressing needs, knowing they had essential household items covered. One community member, a single father struggling to make ends meet, shared that having practical supplies like reusable cleaning cloths and food storage wrap gave him a little extra breathing room in his budget.

From an organisational perspective, these donations have strengthened our ability to provide meaningful, high-quality support to those who need it most. They allow us to extend our services beyond just food relief, offering holistic assistance that helps families rebuild and regain stability.

We are incredibly grateful to Good360 and Clorox for their generosity, which has brought comfort, relief, and dignity to so many in our community. Their support allows us to continue our mission of care, connection, and resilience, ensuring that no one has to face hardship alone.
At SECC, we believe in creating a community where everyone has access to the essentials they need to thrive. The donations from Good360 and Clorox have allowed us to extend our impact beyond food relief, providing practical household items that help families regain stability and dignity.

Seeing the smiles on our community members’ faces when they receive these items is a reminder of how small acts of kindness can make a world of difference. A mother who fled domestic violence told us, “It’s not just about the food; it’s about feeling cared for. Knowing people are thinking about us makes all the difference.”

These donations not only meet immediate needs but also empower families to rebuild their lives. We are committed to continuing this work and expanding our reach to ensure that no one in our community is left behind.

We extend our deepest thanks to Good360 and Clorox for their generosity and unwavering support. Together, we are making a tangible difference in the lives of those who need it most.
